What is cocci, canker and worms in pigeons?

Cocci, canker and worms are three different types of parasitic infections that can affect pigeons.
Cocci is short for coccidiosis, which is caused by coccidia, microscopic organisms that live in the intestines of pigeons. It can cause bloody or watery droppings, weight loss, ruffled feathers and death in severe cases; Canker is also known as trichomoniasis, which is caused by trichomonads, single-celled organisms that infect the mouth, throat and crop of pigeons. It can cause yellowish lesions, difficulty swallowing, vomiting and respiratory problems; Worms are intestinal parasites that can infest pigeons, such as roundworms, tapeworms and hairworms. They can cause diarrhoea, weight loss, anaemia and reduced performance.
